New York Kids:
A Subway Ride Through Childhood

Have you ever wanted to put your ear to the door at your child’s sleepover party and listen to what the kids are talking about? Or have you ever wanted to ask your kids those taboo questions which you fear would not be answered openly and honestly? A new real life documentary, New York Kids: A Subway Ride Through Childhood, takes viewers into the lives of New York City children to explore the issues, stresses and pressures of everyday life.
Created by the Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM), Civilian Studios and Glazen Creative Studios, this documentary takes you on “a subway ride through childhood” to Chinatown, the Bronx, the East Side and to Brooklyn to see the world through the eyes of six diverse children ages 9 – 14. From issues with body image and fears of the news, to pornography, drugs and violence, this daring film depicts how children in New York City are fighting for their childhoods amid the adult realities of their urban environment.
